This April, Japan Society of Boston featured Bianca Sanchez Alvarez (Hiroshima, 2016-2018). In their JSB meets JET Alumni series. Bianca reflects on her journey inspired by her great-grandfather’s Japanese roots. She shares insights on Hiroshima’s culture, from okonomiyaki to Peace Memorial Park, and the lasting connections made with students and colleagues.

This March, Japan Society of Boston featured Lillian Wies (Saga, 2012-2013), in their JSB meets JET Alumni series. Lillian shared how her time in Saga shaped her career path, leading to a PhD in Japanese art history and roles at top museums, including the Harvard Art Museums, where she’s currently the Gregory and Maria Henderson Curatorial Fellow.

This February, Japan Society of Boston featured Jason Sardinha (Kochi, 2011-2016), in their JSB meets JET Alumni series. After spending five years on the JET Program, Jason now works in the city's Tourism Department, where he helps manage their sister city relationship with the US.

In January, Japan Society of Boston featured Rachel Eio (Osaka, 1997-1998). In her JSB meets JET Alumni series, Rachel shares about her love for Kansai's lively culture, even mastering Osaka-ben, and brought the spirit of Japan to her U.S. classroom through a sister-school program.

In December, Japan Society of Boston featured Lillian Rowlatt (Niigata 2003-2005), in their JSB meets JET Alumni series, Lillian discusses how JET allowed her to more deeply explore her Japanese heritage. ⁠

Post-JET, Lillian went on to co-found Kokoro Care, which delivers locally (Japanese) made products to your door which showcase Japan’s unique regions and seasonal ingredients. ⁠

In November, Japan Society of Boston featured Mac Gill (Kochi, 2021-2023), in their JSB meets JET Alumni series. Mac share her experiences of rice planting, a local arts festival, translating a kamishibai, and joining tai chi and folk dance groups. Sounds like so many of us on JET!

In October, Japan Society of Boston got to know Sarah Yasuda (Tokyo, 2015-2017). The JET program allowed her to connect with her heritage, explore her mother's hometown, and gain valuable teaching experience while fully immersing herself in the culture!

In August of 2024, Japan Society of Boston got to know Vivian Chen (Shimane, 2016-2018) who is JETAA USA’s newest Country Representative.
