The George Busbee Awards is one of the State of Georgia’s most prestigious international recognitions. It is named after the late governor of Georgia and “recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to building the relationship between Georgia and Japan.”
The award was presented to a key advocate of Georgia-Japan relationship, JET alum, Jessica Cork (Hiroshima, 1997 - 2000), Vice President of Community Engagement and Corporate Communication at YKK Corporation of America in recognition of her enduring commitment, dedication, and leadership in advancing strong relationships between the State of Georgia and Japan.
She is the 6th recipient of the award since its inception in 2004, and the first recipient since 2012.
Japan is one of Georgia’s leading investor nations and top trading partners. More than 400 Japanese facilities operate in the state, employing over 40,000 Georgians, including the company Jessica Cork works for, YKK Corporation of America.
