A long-time leader in the US-Japan nonprofit sector, Jim joined Peace Winds America in December 2023 as its CEO. He is also a senior fellow at the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE/USA), which he headed for two decades, creating and leading a wide range of initiatives to strengthen US-Japan relations and encourage deeper international cooperation on humanitarian assistance, global health, and democracy support. He has also served as executive director for the US JET Program Alumni Association (USJETAA), and has written extensively on US-Asia relations, global health, development, and civil society.

Nicholas Szechenyi is vice president of the Geopolitics and Foreign Policy Department and senior fellow with the Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He also served as deputy director of the Japan Chair from 2005 to 2022. His research interests include Japanese politics and foreign policy, U.S.-Japan relations, and U.S. strategy in the Indo-Pacific region. Prior to joining CSIS in 2005, he was a news producer for Fuji Television in Washington, D.C., where he covered U.S. policy in Asia and domestic politics. He holds an MA in international economics and Japan studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in Asian studies from Connecticut College. He lived in Japan for six years and speaks fluent Japanese.

Scott Wong is a veteran reporter on Capitol Hill, and has been a senior congressional reporter at NBC News since 2022. He previously reported on Congress for Politico and The Hill. He has covered five House speakers, two Donald Trump impeachments, countless legislative battles and leadership fights, and reported from inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack.
He got his professional start in journalism covering local government for two small newspapers in his native San Francisco Bay Area. He later wrote for The Arizona Republic, including stints covering the statehouse and Phoenix City Hall.
Wong graduated from UCLA, where he wrote for the student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, and is a longtime member of the Asian American Journalists Association. He lives with his wife and three children in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.
