Osaka, 2017-2020
Laura dreamed of uniting Japan and America for over 10 years. She first moved to Japan in 2017 on the JET Programme and was placed in Osaka. Upon completing her tenure on JET in 2020, she worked at a small Japanese company doing international sales, and then launched her own English business in 2021. She returned to the states in 2022 and started working at Pasona N A, Inc as a Talent Acquisition Specialist. She has continued to work towards her goal of uniting the US and Japan, managing several international projects resulting in the onboarding of bilingual Americans who are interested in working with Japanese companies. She enjoys bridging the cultural gap within companies and helping JET Alumni realize their full professional potential.

Hyogo, 2008-2012
James has been working with Japanese organizations for his entire career – everything from interpreting to recruiting to dressing up as Santa Claus to entertain preschoolers. As a JET alumnus (Hyogo, 2008-2012), he learned the importance of effective communication in international environments. At Pasona N A, Inc in his role of Talent Acquisition Specialist, he specializes in college outreach, intercultural training, and coaching candidates who are applying to Japanese companies for the first time.

Hokkaido, 1993-96
Emily is a professional career counselor with over 15 years of experience, ranging from higher education to private practice. She was also a Hokkaido AET (1993-1996) and has coached many other JETs, both individually and in groups, over the last 5 years. She has a passion for working with creative people and those transitioning back to life in the US. Her practice covers deeply personal topics like identity and finding meaning, as well as such nitty-gritty things like resumes and salary negotiation.
She holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Smith College and an M.A. in professional counseling from Regis University in Denver, CO. She calls Denver home, but is happy to work with people all over the world.

Jennifer is an independent career coach, former JET, and current vice president of the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado. Her passion is helping others find theirs, and she has found a way to sneak career coaching into every one of her jobs, even as an ALT. She's been on both sides of the interview table as both a recruiter and job seeker, and understands the stress and uncertainty that comes with taking the next step in your career. She combines her JET experience with this knowledge to help clients develop clarity in their careers through explorative activities and reflection.

Kristy Ishii is a fifth generation Japanese American, who has over 8 years of experience working internationally as a community leader, JET English Teacher, and full cycle executive recruiter in Japan. She works virtually from Los Angeles, as a Holistic Career Transitions and Wellness (Mindset) Coach, and also as the Program Director for Social Impact Leadership Development programs in the Silicon Valley (CA). She is most known for helping clients get in touch with their inner wisdom, joy, self care & wellness, while in a career transition phase. Her coaching method helps clients change patterned belief systems that are holding them back from success, by guiding them through unique mindset re-framing techniques. By gaining clarity, clients can realign with their roots and identities in life, relationships, and career, and lead a fulfilling lifestyle that meets all of their needs.

Fukuoka, 1989-1991
Rob Uy is a global human resources professional, career transition coach, trainer and facilitator. Drawing on 30+ years human resources experience in global high tech products and services, Rob works with individuals, teams and organizations to help them ‘find their voice’ and realize career and organizational goals.
Rob followed his experience on JET (Fukuoka, 1989 - 1991) with an additional three and half years as business operations manager at a growing conversation school in Fukuoka. Those experiences helped open the doors to global recruiting and HR management roles in technology in Silicon Valley and the Pacific Northwest, continuing to present day.
As a human resources professional, coach and trainer, Rob's experience has included HR leadership roles at Amazon, T-Mobile, Intellectual Ventures, and Microsoft.

Tsehay Wright was an ALT in Nagano Prefecture from 2015-2017. After returning from the program, she started her career at a Japanese Manufacturing company in Georgia, transitioning from HR Generalist to Recruiter. Here, she discovered her true calling - nurturing talent and equipping job seekers with the tools for success. Leveraging the power of networking, Tsehay assumed her current role of Career Coach at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business, specializing in guiding MBA and specialty master's students conduct a successful job search. When she’s not working she volunteers her time as the Secretary of JETAASE and enjoys hanging out with friends at a local restaurants and cafes around Atlanta. She loves connecting with aspiring JETs, current JETs and JET alumni.
