Join us as we swap stories and amazing memories from our time on the JET Program. Whether it's been a year, a decade, or longer since you've been to Japan, come relive those only-in-Japan moments with your JETAA friends! This will be an informal event with different speakers sharing short, 5-min stories of their most memorable experiences on JET.EVENT DETAILS
  • This event is casual - hop on and hop off whenever you want
  • We are seeking at least 6 speakers to share their stories - see Speaker Details below
  • We currently plan to have 6, 5-minute stories, separated by 10 minutes for "intermission" and casual conversation.  This is subject to modification depending on the number of speaker volunteers we receive.
  • Bring your favorite beverage - we'll have a casual Kampai at 7:00 (but you can drink before 7:00!)
  • Video call details will be shared shortly before the start of the event

THEME DETAILSOur theme for this storytelling event is...That Time I Almost Died on the JET Program!Was it that treacherous trek up Mt Fuji? Or when you got too close to those "cute" monkeys for a selfie? What about the questionable sushi you picked up from the convenience store that one time? WHAT:Your challenge is to make a fancy dish using ramen noodles, snap a beautiful photo of it, and then post it to the Facebook group by the end of September 8th (one week)! Don't forget to tag it #makeitoshare to enter!
HOW:We will all vote on which we think is the fanciest via Facebook likes. Friday, September 11th, at 7:00 PM EST we all share recipes (and maybe even re-make and eat our creations) in a Zoom call (the link will be sent to those who RSVP to the Facebook event, or email one of us board members)

Meeting location: Zoom (link to be sent on day of the event)Cost: FreeDetails: Summer is coming to a close but that doesn’t mean you have to put away the grill just yet! On Thursday, 9/10 from 6:30-7:30 PM CST, join members of JETAA Chicago and the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of the Japan America Society of Chicago for a “last roast” to summer. Jerry Lai, host of the YouTube Channel Chicago Griller, will teach attendees how to make tsukune (chicken skewers) and yaki onigiri (grilled rice balls). No grill? No problem! You can also make these dishes on a skillet. This event is free and open to all JET Alumni, Friends of JET, and members of the YPC Japan America Society of Chicago.
