JETAA Washington DC Japanese Script Reading Club - Every Sunday at 2:00PM to 3:00PM ET. Sign up formJoin your fellow Japanese language learners and read through a Japanese short play script! The first read-through is for language study, the second read-through is for putting emotion into your Japanese. There will be three language levels available (easy, medium, hard), and a native-speaking Japanese Pronunciation Coach in every zoom breakout room. Email jetambassador@jetaadc.org with any questions. JETAARM is excited to announce that we are again offering complimentary career counseling sessions with fellow JET Alum Emily Frank!

Emily has been a professional career counselor for nearly 15 years and specializes in helping JET alumni figure out their next steps in their professional lives. She knows how to contextualize your JET experiences and help you assess your interests and abilities. Whether you’ve just returned from Japan or want to explore the direction of your current career, Emily has the resources and experience to guide you.JETAARM and Emily Frank have teamed up to offer a 1-hour career counseling session to 10 different alumni. In order to be eligible for these career counseling sessions, you must:

  • Have completed the JET program.
  • Currently live in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming.
  • Be subscribed to our monthly newsletter.  (Subscribe here)

Sessions are on a first come, first serve basis, so we encourage everyone who is interested to apply right away. We especially encourage newly returned JETs to take advantage of this great opportunity!

New Jersey Subchapter: Fall Hiking at Palisades Interstate ParkSaturday, November 6Time: 9:00 amDetails: Join your fellow alumni for some fall hiking at Palisades Interstate Park! Let's enjoy the remainder of the fall colors and give our minds and bodies some relaxation through “forest therapy.” Family and friends are welcome! We’ll meet at 9 am in front of the State Line Cafe (next to the parking lot on State Line Lookout). We'll be doing the Peanut Leap Cascade trail, which is of moderate difficulty and 2.5 miles in length (about 2 hours round trip). Be sure to wear shoes and clothes suitable for hiking and the weather conditions, and bring water and/or snacks. November 16th from 6-7 pm CST - JETAA Chicago Japanese Language Series Pecha Kucha Night 3JETAA Chicago is pleased to announce our third Japanese Language Night Pecha Kucha event on Tuesday, November 16th from 6-7 pm CST! These events are intended to bring together JETAA members and supporters  who want to stay engaged with Japanese language learning and use. We welcome everyone to join in on the fun and practice their language skills. Breakout rooms will be opened to make space for small group discussions for different levels of comfort/proficiency.Unsure of your proficiency level? That’s okay! November 17, 2021 - JASC YPC and JETAA Chicago Book Club - November MeetingOur book club will focus on highlighting voices and stories with a strong connection to Japan. For our third meeting we have chosen Daughters of the Samurai. Written by Janice P. Nimura, the book opens in 1871, and follows the story of five young girls who were sent by the Japanese government to the United States. Their mission: learn Western ways and return to help nurture a new generation of enlightened men to lead Japan.Thanks to the efforts of the JASC, our discussion will be joined by the author herself,  Janice P. JETAANY at AnimeNYCFriday November 19 – Sunday, November 21Location:  Javits Center Details: JETAANY is participating in AnimeNYC again this year! We will be hosting a booth in the Artist’s Alley for all three days of the convention. If you would like to help us volunteer at the booth, we would love to have you! Note that vaccinations and face coverings are mandatory for all convention attendees. JETAANY will also be hosting a panel with stories about our times on the JET Program. Jennifer has opened her home and backyard to us for a Thanksgiving-style potluck, to let us gather and have another event this year.
Please bring a dish to share, holiday themed or otherwise! Leave a comment in the thread below about what you plan to bring so we don't end up with only desserts. 🙂
Feel free to bring a +1, but please comment if you are. We are capping this event at 25 people due to space and safety.
Plates, water, hot green tea, cutlery will be provided. Please bring serving utensils for your dish, and a mask to wear while indoors/getting food.
