Volunteers Wanted for California Sister Cities Youth Leadership Summit
The California Sister Cities Youth Leadership Summit will be held online on Saturday, February 6, 2021. The Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter, Koyamada International Foundation (KIF) USA, and the U.S. Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme Alumni Association would like to invite U.S. JET Program Alumni to serve as volunteers for this nonprofit online event that will be moderated by young professionals and college students for high school students throughout California, as well as high school students from California’s sister cities around the world.

Summit Overview
The overriding theme of the online California Sister Cities Youth Leadership Summit is “Peace and Kindness.” The online event will feature:
- a few short speeches
- a series of themed short panel discussions addressing issues that are most important to our youth and their future well being. Panelists: high school students. Moderators: college students and young professionals
- an international round table featuring high school participants worldwide
- entertainment
- an award ceremony
KIF Konversations
One month prior to the Youth Leadership Summit, high school students will send in KIF Konversations, which are one-minute presentation videos about specific topics related to Peace and Kindness, that will be put on the event website.
Volunteer Positions
Volunteers are wanted for various areas including:
- coordinating panel sessions
- coordinating the international round table
- coordinating entertainment
- coordinating awards program
- coordinating KIF Konversations
- coordinating event promotions & PR
- coordinating event sponsors
- organizing committee assistance
- graphic design
- video production/editing
- website updating
- social media updating
- tech support
About the Event Organizers
Sister Cities International was founded in 1956 by President Dwight Eisenhower for the purpose of bringing about peace throughout the world through citizen-to-citizen diplomacy. Today, this network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in 500 member communities with over 1,800 sister city partnerships in 138 countries on 6 continents. California has more sister city organizations than any other state in the U.S. 79 California cities have 356 partnerships with cities overseas. The summit is organized by the Southern California Chapter of Sister Cities International.
Koyamada International Foundation (KIF) USA is a nonprofit organization founded by actor Shin Koyamada (The Last Samurai, Disney Channel) with the purpose of improving the quality of life through global youth and women empowerment, humanitarian aid, and the promotion of global peace and sustainable development.
