Compensation: $20 / hr
Hours: 5-10 hrs / wk

About Us:
USJETAA is focused on engaging and supporting the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Alumni Association (JETAA) community. Our small team fosters meaningful connections among alumni while promoting cultural exchange and professional development focused on Japan.

Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Social Media Coordinator who can work independently while effectively communicating and coordinating with our team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about digital engagement and community building on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X. This role includes managing and creating content for our social media channels, designing graphics as needed, and working with JETAA chapters to amplify event promotions. This role will also explore building a more robust JETAA professional network via LinkedIn. Other mission-relevant projects and priorities as appropriate and needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and post content across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X.

  • Engage with the online JETAA community to foster meaningful connections and grow our social media presence.

  • Design graphics and other visual materials to accompany posts, ensuring content is visually appealing and on-brand.

  • Coordinate with JETAA chapters to promote events, sharing relevant updates and information.

  • Track engagement metrics and adapt strategies to optimize reach and impact.

  • Stay informed about social media trends to enhance our outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing social media platforms, preferably in a community-focused or nonprofit setting.

  • A passion for helping our JETAA community connect with each other and network.

  • Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with design tools (e.g., Canva).

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills; ability to work effectively within a small team.

  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks independently.

  • Interest in and familiarity with the JETAA community or cultural exchange programs is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience growing and engaging online communities.

  • Creative approach to storytelling and audience engagement.

  • Basic knowledge of analytics tools to monitor social media performance.

  • Familiarity with the JETAA community and the JET Program experience.

  • Experience using Discord and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, etc.).
