Getting Into Graduate School

For ten years, Leah Gowron managed the administration of international and domestic internships and career placement at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). She was campus coordinator for Fulbright, the National Security Education program (NSEP), the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the US Foreign Service Exams, UN National Competitive Recruitment Exams and the Presidential Management Fellowship Program (PMF). She conducted workshops on career development with concentrations in international policy, public administration, international development, environmental, commercial diplomacy, as well as security, intelligence, and non-proliferation.
As the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations, Leah oversaw the development of programs and resources for the Institute’s alumni, coordinated special events worldwide, and managed research projects for alumni data. In 2019 she retired from the Middlebury Institute, relocated to the Big Island of Hawaii, and now runs ReImagine You: Global Career Coaching, a private career consulting program.
Leah was on JET during the early years of the programme (Saitama 1990-1991) and co-founded the Manitoba-Saskatchewan JET Alumni Association in 1992.
