American JETs Micro-grant Initiative 2017-2018 – Call for Proposals

The United States Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme Alumni Association (USJETAA) with the United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan invites all current U.S. JET participants to apply for the 2017-2018 American JETs Micro-grant Initiative.

Through this initiative, funded by the U.S. Embassy, grants of $500-$1,000 each will be awarded to fund activities that promote English language education, encourage future travel and study in the United States, and introduce American culture and values to students in Japan. Recognizing that all JET teachers are cultural ambassadors in their Japanese communities, this program ultimately seeks to strengthen the ties of friendship between the peoples of Japan and the United States of America.

In 2016-2017, fifteen current American JETs were provided with funding for activities in their local schools and communities. For 2017-2018, we anticipate funding between 15-25 micro-grants.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens actively participating in the JET Programme through the length of the proposed grant.

Important Dates:

· Application Deadline: November 15, 2017

· Awardees Announced: December 1, 2017

· Micro-grant Period: December 1, 2017 – May 31, 2018

· Reports: Grantees must submit two reports:

  • An interim project report (form will be provided) is due by March 1, 2018.*
  • Final reports are due 30-days after the completion of the project, and no later than June 15, 2018, for projects completed in May.

*Projects completed by the interim project deadline can include the interim report form with the final report.

If you are a current JET and would like to apply to the American JETs Micro-grant Initiative 2017-2018, please complete the form below, or you may download the PDF and email or mail it to USJETAA: US-Embassy Tokyo_USJETAA-JET-Microgrant-Application2017

(Please note: Some browsers will allow you to fill in the linked pdf form above, but it will not save your changes when you navigate away from the page. If you wish to use the pdf version, please download it to your computer first.)

Applications or questions may be sent to Laurel Lukaszewski, USJETAA Executive Director at llukaszewski@jusfc.gov or mailed to: USJETAA 1201 15th Street, NW, Suite 330, Washington, DC  20005, USA.
