American JETs Micro-grant Initiative 2017-2018 – Call for Proposals
The United States Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme Alumni Association (USJETAA) with the United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan invites all current U.S. JET participants to apply for the 2017-2018 American JETs Micro-grant Initiative.
Through this initiative, funded by the U.S. Embassy, grants of $500-$1,000 each will be awarded to fund activities that promote English language education, encourage future travel and study in the United States, and introduce American culture and values to students in Japan. Recognizing that all JET teachers are cultural ambassadors in their Japanese communities, this program ultimately seeks to strengthen the ties of friendship between the peoples of Japan and the United States of America.
In 2016-2017, fifteen current American JETs were provided with funding for activities in their local schools and communities. For 2017-2018, we anticipate funding between 15-25 micro-grants.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens actively participating in the JET Programme through the length of the proposed grant.
Important Dates:
· Application Deadline: November 15, 2017
· Awardees Announced: December 1, 2017
· Micro-grant Period: December 1, 2017 – May 31, 2018
