The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Swarthmore College invites applications for a Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor in Japanese for the 2020-2021 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. Appointment as Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor will depend on the candidate’s qualifications at the time of appointment. Responsibilities will focus primarily on Japanese language teaching, with the possibility of offering courses in English in the candidate’s disciplinary specialty, such as Japanese linguistics, literature, or language pedagogy.

A Master’s Degree, PhD, or ABD status in Japanese language pedagogy, linguistics, or a related field, college-level teaching experience in Japanese, and near-native proficiency in Japanese and English are expected.
