Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Japanese at Purdue University – (West Lafayette, Indiana, USA)

We welcome applications for the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Japanese at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Japanese at Purdue is housed in the School of Languages and Cultures (SLC), in the College of Liberal Arts. We have undergraduate Japanese minor and major programs consisting of four years of language, linguistics, literature, film, and culture courses. At the graduate level, we offer the M.A. and Ph.D. in Japanese Applied Linguistics/Pedagogy.

Qualifications: a PhD in Japanese literature and culture; experience teaching university-level language and culture classes; research agenda with potential for substantial field contributions and impact; and evidence of excellent teaching and research. Native or near-native fluency in Japanese.

Salary: competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will normally teach two courses per semester. The start date for the position is August 12, 2019, with research leave (no teaching) for the first semester and with the teaching assignment beginning in January 2020.
