Teaching Assistant – Queens College, City University of New York (Queens, NY)
Queens College is currently looking for an adjunct who can TA J101 and teach J305. The position will be available for the Fall 2021 semester (and hopefully continue to work at QC after that).
TA duties for J101
I am looking for a teaching assistant (regular CUNY adjunct rate) who can speak fluent Japanese in simple Japanese. The TA conducts oral drill and only speaks Japanese (no English at all) to the students. The work is one day a week, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, and three 50 minutes sections (10:05-10:55, 11:10-12, 3:50-4:20). For this Fall semester, I suspect it is going to be fully online. Minimum degree required is a BA. I think this is a great opportunity for JET alums to start their teaching career in higher education. No experience in higher education required; I will provide training.
Instructor duties for J305
I am looking for an instructor (regular CUNY adjunct rate). For this position, the candidate would be near or native Japanese fluency with some Japanese teaching experience in the US higher education. Minimum degree required is a MA.
I don’t know the exact adjunct rate but it is public record; it varies depending on the degree that the instructor possesses. If anybody is interested, please let him or her know to contact: mari.fujimoto@qc.cuny.edu – Mari Fujimoto, Ph.D. – Director of Japanese Studies, Department of Classical, Middle Eastern, and Asian Languages and Cultures Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) Office: Queens Hall 240, 65-30 Kissena Blvd., Queens, NY 11367-1597
