Here’s an opportunity to gain experience as a SAVI Advocate:
The Mount Sinai SAVI Program 2018 Volunteer Advocate Training
SAVI volunteers are trained to support survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence (IPV),
responding Emergency Department (ED)s throughout Manhattan and Queens.
Interested candidates must be able to meet the following minimum requirements in order to participate in SAVI’s Volunteer Advocate Program:
21 years of age or older at the time of interview.
Active residency in Queens or Manhattan, to be close to the hospitals we serve.
(Some areas of Queens and Manhattan are out of our catchment area – this is based on zip code)
Ability to participate onsite at a 2.5 hour group interview held at our Upper East Side location.
Successfully complete requisite medical, drug and background screenings within the required
timeline.
Ability to attend all sessions of the 40‐hour NYS Department of Health Training (see below for
more information) provided by SAVI.
Willing to commit to a minimum of two shifts per month, for at least one year.
Shift times are as follows: 8pm‐2am; 2am‐ 8am; 8am – 2pm; 2pm‐8pm.

(all sessions required)
1. Tuesday, October 2 from 5:30PM to 9:30PM
2. Saturday, October 6 from 10:00AM to 5:30PM
3. Sunday, October 7 from 10:00AM to 5:30PM
4. Saturday, October 13 from 10:00AM to 5:30PM
5. Sunday, October 14 from 10:00AM to 5:30PM
6. Saturday, October 20 from 10:00AM to 5:00PM
