Are you passionate about Japanese culture and love sharing engaging content on social media? Come join the Consulate’s Japan Information Center (JIC) as a part-time Public Relations Assistant!

This is an entry-level CONTRACT position that assists the JIC staff with day-to-day social media management, consulate events, and other public relations initiatives.

The contract will run from August 2021 until end of March 2022- start date is negotiable. Working hours will be Monday through Friday, 25 – 29 hours per week.

We are looking for an organized team player who can accommodate a variety of tasks and assume the following responsibilities:

[ Responsibilities ]

• Creating and sharing fun Japan-related social media posts
• Searching for sharable articles, photos and trends related to Japan for social media
• Assisting JIC staff with Government Programs and Educational Outreach
• Responding to and following up with public inquiries by phone and email
• Various administrative tasks for public relations and cultural events
• Other duties as deemed necessary

[ Qualifications ]

• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms
• Knowledge of and experience with using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• At least two years of college education
• MUST be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Native-level English

[ Ideal Candidate ]

• Strong interest in learning about and sharing Japanese culture
• Open to learning new skills
• Basic photography skills
• Basic photo editing or graphic design skills
• Familiarity with live streaming is helpful
• Japanese language is a plus, but not a requirement
