Program Director, Projects for Peace – Middlebury College (Middlebury, Vermont)

Duties

Middlebury College (MC) seeks a Program Director to work in collaboration with the Center for Community Engagement leadership and the Davis United World College Scholars Program, to advance the mission of the Projects for Peace (PfP) program. PfP provides grant funding for students who have been chosen by their home institution, to conduct projects that will positively affect root causes of conflict and promote peace. Grants are awarded each year, sending more than 100 new ambassadors for peace across the world.

The Program Director will build on PfP’s success and evolve the program to meet the changing needs of students/alumni. The Program Director will work with stakeholders to focus the vision, connect students/alumni to one another and provide tools for liaisons/students to design, propose, and implement their projects. The position requires that the successful candidate enjoy the challenge and creativity associated with taking an established program to the next level. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, strategic program design, cohort development, institutional integration, grantee fund management, alumni network development.

Qualifications

M.A. degree in a related field or BA and demonstrable work experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education, non-profit, international development, or peace space. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with diverse college-aged people and to work successfully with all levels of staff and leadership. Must be able to demonstrate skills and/or interest in: Advancing diversity, equity, and access; possess excellent interpersonal, organization, collaboration, and communication skills; show strong evidence of collaborative work, systems thinking and excellent writing skills; and have skills in developing and managing program components and budgets. It is critical the successful candidate be adept with established and new social media/networking approaches and interest in growth to accommodate changing electronic communication tools.
