The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University Bloomington seeks a full-time lecturer in Japanese language to assume appointment in August 2022. The successful candidate will be appointed to a three-year contract and, assuming positive annual reviews and excellent performance, would receive annual reappointments for up to four years thereafter; during the sixth year, promotion to senior lecturer could result in receipt of a long-term contract. Duties include teaching Japanese language at all levels and active involvement with development of the Japanese Language Program within the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies.
Basic Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree or higher in Japanese language, language pedagogy, linguistics, or applied linguistics, or related field; native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English; prior experience and demonstrated success in teaching Japanese at the college level in the United States.
Additional Qualifications:
Preferred: Familiarity with assessment and ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and graduate level training in Japanese language pedagogy.
