Japan Specialist Travel Consultant – Inside Japan Tours/Inside Asia Tours

InsideAsia Tours Ltd is currently recruiting for Japan specialist Travel Consultants to work in our Bristol (UK), Boulder (Colorado, US) and Brisbane (Australia) offices. You will be responsible for creating, selling and delivering high quality Japan holiday packages. Most of your time will be spend interacting with clients or travel agents over the phone or by email along with ensuring everything is in place so our clients have the best possible holiday experience. The role is very varied and requires strong organisational skills with an ability to handle a large variety of simultaneous tasks under strict deadlines. The Travel Consultant is responsible for the reservation process as well as the preparation and sending of client travel documents, requiring strong attention to detail. You will work within a team of up to 6 other Travel Consultants led by a Sales Team Leader to reach both individual and team sales targets in your branch office while providing the highest level of customer service.

Principle areas of responsibility

 Interacting with clients by telephone, email and occasionally in person at our offices or travel industry events

 Consulting with clients to identify their individual holiday requirements

 Creation of high quality tailor-made itineraries for direct and agent clients

 Conversion to sale of both tailor-made and small group tour enquiries; maximizing value from each enquiry

 Working to achieve individual and team sales targets

 As well as planning itineraries, coordination of all aspects of the booking including reservations and delivery of trip

 Preparation and sending of client documents

 Balancing time appropriately between the various aspects of the role

 Deliver excellent customer service from first enquiry to post trip follow up, exceeding client expectations at every stage Key skills and qualities

 Highly motivated, well organized individual with ability to handle a large variety of simultaneous tasks

 Previous customer service experience

 Desire to achieve sales targets

 High level of productivity and accuracy; able to get a lot done at a high level under pressure

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, IT skills and good with numbers

 A passion for Japan as a travel destination and desire to help others discover the country

 Basic Japanese language skills

Desirable but not essential

 Previous sales experience

 Experience working in the travel industry

 Experience of living and/or working in Japan

 University/college undergraduate/bachelor’s degree

 Experience of travelling to our other destination countries

Pay and benefits

UK: Starting salary £20,190-£22,360 per annum (depending on skills and experience), plus unlimited sales-related bonus (on target earnings £4k pa); 23 days paid annual leave, plus statutory bank holidays; 3% employer pension contribution. Potential salary after 3 years: £28k+ plus approximately £14k on target earnings.

US: Starting salary $31,059-$42,447 per annum (depending on skills and experience), plus salesrelated bonus (on target earnings of approximately $6k per year once fully trained, up to $21k); 20 days paid annual leave, 401k and benefits including full health and dental coverage. Potential salary after 3 years for an applicant hired at $31k would be $42k+ plus approximately $21k on target earnings.

Australia: Competitive salary and unlimited sales-related bonus potential, plus Superannuation contribution. 20 days paid annual leave.

There may be occasional opportunities to travel to Japan for research purposes.
