Community Public School 147 The Isaac Remsen School for Environmental Engineering is the proud home of the first and only Japanese Dual Language Program within the New York City Department of Education. PS147 is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Japanese Teacher who shares our values for equity and excellence on behalf of all students. Our school is a diverse and thriving school community located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. Students receive daily Japanese Language instruction through multi-disciplinary, hands on learning which fosters meaningful and real world connections. At PS147, Japanese Teachers work collaboratively to ensure alignment of the cross-grade curricula, pedagogical best practices and engaging learning experiences. PS147 holds strong partnerships with the New York City Japanese community, including Consulate General of Japan in NY/LA and Japan Foundation NY/LA. Additionally, our community is supported by dedicated and empowered parent leaders, elected officials, community-based organizations, volunteers and New York City Department of Education leaders who work collaboratively with school, Teacher Team and School Building Leaders to ensure high levels of achievement for all students. Our school has had the distinct privilege of welcoming on numerous occasions Ms. Akie Abe, wife of Shinzo Abe, the current Prime Minister of Japan.
Requirements:
Education Degree: Teacher license as an Elementary School Teacher or Teacher of Japanese as a Second Language
Bilingual Extension, preferred
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
Native or near-native fluency in Japanese, as well as strong communication skills in English
Experience with inquiry-based, preferred
Experience with curriculum development
