Director of Global Learning and Engagement – The Bolles School (Jacksonville, FL)

Company: The Bolles School
Title: Director of Global Learning and Engagement
Salary: TBD, Full-time
Location: Jacksonville, FL

Purpose:  As the founding Director of the Center for Global Learning and Engagement, the Director will implement, supervise, monitor, and oversee all GLE programs and operations in grades PK-12.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience required
  • Previous experience as a Director of Global Studies preferred, including international travel
  • Current knowledge of best practices in Global learning, including curriculum and competencies
  • Experience working with students in elementary, middle, and upper schools preferred

General:

  • Demonstrates and enthusiastically supports the School’s Mission and values of courage, integrity, compassion, and excellence
  • Performs in a manner that reflects positively on The Bolles School
  • Champions Global Learning at Bolles through the establishment of deep relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Alongside the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and administration, fosters a school-wide culture that values being part of a diverse community
  • Teaches up to three academic classes and/or advise, with goal of implementing Global Learning electives
  • Participates regularly in domestic and international travel with groups
  • Performs other duties as requested

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partners with School Administration to establish a Center for Global Learning and Engagement
  • Manages the program budget of the Center for Global Learning and Engagement
  • Supports Global Learning curriculum development PK-12 by consulting with departments and individuals, providing recommendations on how to incorporate global learning into the curriculum, and identifying professional learning opportunities for faculty members
  • Oversees development of a Global Scholar Certificate Program, including, among other things, course offerings and options (including Global Online Academy), summer reading, experiential learning opportunities, and travel
  • Presents the Global Learning and Engagement mission and programs to all constituencies
  • Serves on the Academic Council
  • Serves as the School’s GEBG liaison
  • Coordinates with Campus Heads to promote community engagement – locally, nationally, and internationally – including service clubs, campus-wide drives, and international service trips
  • Oversees and supports the Coordinator of Travel Programs to develop template curriculum (pre-departure, onsite, and post-return) for all travel experiences, WL and otherwise
  • Manages international programs and travel related to the World Languages Department
  • Researches and develops new experimental learning opportunities in all disciplines and oversees those programs as well as programs already in place
  • Develops and implements chaperone training programs for all off-campus co-curricular experiences
  • Explores the viability of a teacher exchange program for teachers of all levels
  • Partners with the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Multicultural Leadership Team to oversee programs such as the World Cultures and Countries Day, International Education Week, International Day of the Girl, etc.
  • Promotes a culture of learning that utilizes technology in meaningful and effective ways
  • Fosters an environment in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are consistently practiced in all facets of the school community
