Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist – South Central College (North Mankato, MN)

Salary: Full-time, $50-73,000 annually
Location: North Mankato, MN

Job Description

This position will enhance student success by supporting curriculum development, integration of effective instructional strategies, and expansion of inclusive teaching practices to support the equity priorities of the college and the system. This position provides oversight and support for the curriculum submission and approval process at the college and in the Minnesota State curriculum and program approval system. As a member of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence Team, the Curriculum & Instructional Design Specialist will provide guidance and support to faculty to enhance and ensure high-quality, inclusive, effective teaching across all modalities – face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
Provide project management and support for college faculty in the design or redesign of courses and programs.
Guide and support the college’s curriculum processes and act as administrator and technology support for the college’s instructional design tools.
Act as a resource to college faculty in effective instructional design and the practices of inclusive, learner-centered teaching.
Collaborate with Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence staff in the creation and evaluation of comprehensive faculty development planning and opportunities to support quality curriculum and instruction practices.
Advocate for effective, inclusive, evidence-based curriculum development and instructional practices through service on college and Minnesota State committees and activities that are related to quality of instruction, development of curriculum, equitable and inclusive teaching, and educational development.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the alignment of College and Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence mission.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in curriculum and instruction or an educational field with three years of related experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and revision at a program/department level.
Demonstrated experience with student learning assessment.
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in pedagogy across multiple modalities, including online teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency and enhancing success of diverse learners across all programs and teaching modalities.
Experience with scholarship of teaching and learning or other classroom-based research.
Proficiency using educational software applications, including learning management systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education or related field.
Teaching in a postsecondary or adult environment.
Online teaching experience or familiarity with a learning management system such as D2L Brightspace.
Familiarity or comfort with additional educational technology tools, including technologies to enhance accessibility for students.
Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of high-quality professional development on various curriculum and instructional topics.
Comfort working in a community and technical college environment.
