The Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies, Villanova University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Japanese (continuing, full time, non-tenure track) to teach undergraduate courses beginning in Fall 2019.
The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching and be able to teach Japanese language courses at upper levels, as well as offer culture courses in area of specialty. Although active research and publication record is not required as a condition of employment, candidates with demonstrable research interests in their specialization are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the Japanese Language and Culture and Asian Studies programs.
Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English is required. Candidates should have Ph.D. in hand, but applicants close to completing their degree will be considered-degree must be completed by August 1, 2019.
Candidates with a specialization in Japanese literature or a Japanese cultural specialty (such as Japanese film/media studies, anime, pop culture, etc.) preferred.
