Assistant Director — Kobe Trade Information Office (Seattle, WA)
The Kobe Trade Information Office (KTIO) is looking for a new Assistant Director. This is a part-time position in the Safeco Plaza – BXP building, located in downtown Seattle across from the main library. This position is hybrid with the opportunity to work from home when needed. Prior JET Program experience is preferred and working in a Japanese business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Tracking all expenses/bank activity in a monthly expense report, which is submitted to Kobe in PDF format by the end of the first week of the following month
- Renewing tax exemption forms, filing and distributing W2s, completing annual 940 and quarterly 941s, UI Tax, PMFL, and L&I for the state of Washington
- Responding to emails on behalf of the Director and KTIO and maintaining employee email accounts. Answering the phone while in the office
- Managing payroll documents and any/all employment taxes on a quarterly and annual basis
- Maintaining a record of office accounts and expenses through Quicken and Bank of America online banking
- Completing a FARA report every six months along with submitting KTIO expenses and activities
- Updating KTIO’s Facebook page and Kobestartup.org as needed
- Editing and revising the use of English in reports/emails written by the Director
- Acting as personal and professional assistant to the Director on business trips (if needed)
- Checking, opening, and sorting mail sent to KTIO
- Maintaining a working knowledge of Kobe’s history, government, business endeavors, and goals in relation to KTIO
- Maintaining a clean and organized office space—this includes the Assistant Director’s personal space, as well as space used for storage of KTIO office equipment and supplies
- Intermediate understanding of the Japanese language (written and spoken)
