USJETAA is excited to offer free career counseling and resume review services to JET alumni. To be eligible, you must be an alumni of the JET program, a member of USJETAA, and a resident of the U.S. All of the services take place online, so you can participate from your home or work.

Since services are limited, JET alumni are only eligible to participate in 1 (one) free service (a career counseling or a resume review session). Our career and resume experts are JET alumni who want to give back to the JET community, and so they will also be offering discounted rates for additional services. Please see below for more details on these services.
Applications open August 20, 2019 at 5pm EST and will close when filled or by November 1, 2019.

Who is Emily Frank?
Emily Frank (Hokkaido, 1993-1996) graduated from Smith College and was an AET in southern Hokkaido from 1993-1996. After spending a lot of time afterwards feeling lost, she eventually got a master's degree in counseling and now helps others who are similarly lost regarding careers. She spent over 12 years working at a large public university, and has been in private practice since January, 2018. Emily is based in Denver, but does distance work with clients from all over the globe. She has been able to offer free career counseling to over 50 JET alumni in the past through grants like this, and has enjoyed reconnecting with fellow JETs that way.
This program is now full, but you can still take advantage of the resume review service (below). If you'd like to be waitlisted for the career sessions please email us at email@example.com.
Resume Review with Kamara Toffolo
If you already know your next career steps, Kamara is here to help you create an industry specific resume to land your dream job! Kamara will look at the type of jobs you’re seeking, assess your resume, and give you advice to customize your resume to tell your career journey. There will only be 20 free sessions offered to JET alumni on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please be as specific as possible when filling out your application. To be accepted to this service, you should know the field and position that you are tailoring your resume to fit. This service is not appropriate for general resumes (which we do not recommend using) or if you aren't sure of the job or field you want. Not sure if your resume is ready for this kind of review? Check out Kamara's video on No-Nonsense Resume Advice Just for JETs before applying.
Alumni are only able to participate in one free service. If you’re not quite sure what type of job you’re looking for, we recommend checking out Career Counseling with Emily Frank above.
Once you have filled out the form below outlining your career goals and ideal career path, Kamara will contact you directly to ask for your existing resume. Kamara will create a custom private video on YouTube, which tells you how you can hone this resume. The video will be up indefinitely, so you can get your resume in the best shape possible for your job search. Kamara will also be available to take questions publicly over LinkedIn and will run an "Office Hours" post here every Friday. If you would like her to look at future resumes or LinkedIn profiles, she has agreed to offer further sessions at the discounted rate of $75. Please contact her for further details.
Funding for the Resume Review service is generously provided by The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) and CLAIR.
